Where You’ll Stay
Our artists don’t just visit Quillan — they live it.
Residency housing is provided in carefully chosen properties throughout the heart of town, each designed to offer comfort, quiet, and inspiration. These are not generic rentals — they are character-rich village homes with history, personality, and light.
You might find yourself in Maison d’Arts, a tranquil space curated with original art, soft textures, and a view of the mountains. Some residents may be placed in Tout le Monde, a vibrant townhome with a balcony overlooking the market square, perfect for morning sketches and evening reflection. Others may settle into Petit Soleil, a bright, cozy flat tucked on a quiet street, offering simplicity, sunlight, and just enough solitude for deep creative focus.
Each space is fully furnished with private bedrooms, shared or private bathrooms, and thoughtful touches to support a focused, restorative stay. Our homes are walkable to the studio, shops, and riverside paths, creating a seamless flow between daily life and creative work.
These aren’t just places to sleep. They’re spaces to settle, think, and reconnect with what brought you here.

Culture, Cuisine, & Community
Cuisine in the Aude Valley
The Aude Valley is known for rustic, soulful cuisine that blends mountain flavors with Mediterranean charm. Signature dishes like cassoulet, fréginat (pork stew), and cargolade (grilled snails) celebrate regional traditions, while truffle-infused dishes and farm-fresh cheeses elevate the everyday. Pair it all with Blanquette de Limoux—the world’s first sparkling wine, and you’ve got a taste of Occitan warmth on every plate.
Entertainment: ArtVin3 & BDQ Brewery
Local life thrives through culture and creativity. In Quillan, ArtVin3 offers a rotating art gallery and cozy wine bar where you can sip and browse. Just up the road in Puivert, BDQ Taproom pairs wood-fired pizza with local craft brews and frequent live music, making it a hub for locals, expats, and visiting artists alike.
Markets: Quillan, Espéraza & Mirepoix
Market days are the heartbeat of the region. Quillan’s weekly markets offer fresh produce and handmade goods, while the Sunday market in Espéraza is known for its bohemian vibe and organic offerings. For a fairytale setting, head to Mirepoix on Mondays, where stalls fill the medieval square with color, fragrance, and local flavor.
Under A Watchful Eye
Perched above the River Aude, the 12th-century Château de Quillan has watched over the town for centuries. Its presence threads through daily life—a quiet echo of the past woven into the rhythm of the present.
